Fleet Defense by Simon Cattlin

In 1982 Fleet Air Arm Sea Harrier's proved the potency of this tactical fleet defence fighter during the Falklands campaign despite a potentially superior (Mirage equipped) foe, bad weather and limited resources.

The professionalism of the Harrier force has been well documented by historians, at the time many military pundits felt the Harrier would fair badly against the Argentinians as it was not at the cutting edge of air superiority technology, was relatively slow and had an awesomely high wing loading. The British tactics and the nature of the engagements played to the strengths of the Harriers.

"Fleet Defence" depicts 2 FRS.1's of 801 NAS pursuing attacking A4's close to the task force.
