Ribbons of light by Simon Cattlin This is my second Typhoon painting ( “Typhoon for two” won the GAVA Arthur Gibson award in 2008 ) and this time I’ve focused on the super-attractive single seat FGR4 model. The FGR4 version is the upgraded specification for multi-role operations including reconnaissance and ground attack as well as air superiority. This aircraft is ZJ946 of 17 Squadron which is the RAF’s operational evaluation unit, I’ve placed the Typhoon descending between layers of heavy clouds illuminated by strong sunlight. There is a quality about the Typhoon which draws you to it as an artist, I’ve seen it displayed twice, looked at numerous video’s and I’m already planning painting 3… |
